How to acquire a LEED credit from Land In Trust

Obtaining a LEED credit through Land In Trust couldn't be easier. We do all the work.

You deal exclusively with us, and the Canadian Land Trust Alliance makes sure that our partner land trusts are doing everything necessary to ensure that credits meet all LEED requirements.

This is all you need to do for Existing Buildings O&M Sustainable Sites Credit 5:

Send us an e-mail
We e-mail you a quotation and invoice for the LEED credit
We e-mail you a Natural Area Conservation and Maintenance Agreement
You mail us the signed agreement and your payment
We send you the agreement, with a map and details of the land you have preserved

What about LEED Neighbourhood Development?

A number of Canadian projects are gaining international certification under the US LEED 2009 for Neighborhood Development standard. We can help you achieve these credits. In July 2011, the CaGBC issued Canadian Alternative Compliance Paths for LEED ND, and the standards remain almost identical to the USGBC LEED ND standards.

There are a number of credits in the LEED ND standard that can be gained by working with land trusts, and Land In Trust can provide these credits. Because of the nature of these credits, each will beindividually tailored to address the specifics of the site involved in the project. The closest land trust to the project will supply the credit. The cost of these credits will vary depending upon the nature and the amount of work involved.

As with the Sustainable Sites Credit 5, you can rest assured that these Neighbourhood Development credits will adhere to the LEED standard.

So to apply for a LEED Neighbourhood Development credit, simply send us an e-mail with as many details as you have, and we will take it from there.

So what do I do next?

Please e-mail with your request for a LEED credit.

All we need to know initially is:

- The name of the organization who is going to receive the credit
- T
he address or GPS location of the development
- The size of the area of natural land to be protected

For Sustainable Sites Credit 5, we will be able to provide you with a quotation and draft contract within days of receiving your request.  For Neighbourhood Development credits, it may take a little longer.

Please do call Andrew Lush (Trees In Trust) or Lynn McIntyre (Canadian Land Trust Alliance) with any questions. Our contact details can be found on the Contact Us page.
